A new concept in Seminars: build your own

Bring your questions to our new problem solving Seminar on Wednesday, April 26 at 9 a.m., at the RB Library, 2nd floor, Community Room. This is an exciting new concept for our Neighborhood Watch Seminars. We are trying something new which will be of real benefit to residents. We want you to tell us what you think needs attention to continue our high quality of life in RB. You will have an opportunity to voice your day-to-day concerns about your choice of many different subjects.

First of all, there will be no speakers, as we usually have. We will have facilitators from the police department, fire department, Community Council, Neighborhood Watch, Emergency Preparedness and others to help you use the fantastic resources available to all residents: City Services, Mediation, CC&Rs, recreation programs, a new dog park, streets and transportation. You may have questions about your safety on our streets and in our parking lots, in your homes, on your telephones.

We will most likely divide into smaller groups at one point, or you can change groups when other things interest you. Be forewarned: we will not be discussing topics that are already being addressed such as helicopter noise, traffic on I-15, the golf driving range, new subdivisions, and the like.

Consider our new format as a junior Town Hall meeting - with your own personal topics on the agenda for discussion. The results of these discussions will be summarized at the end of the morning on Wednesday, April 26, so you will all know the subjects discussed and some of the remedies and resources used.

Most importantly: the results of this Seminar will be given to the appropriate agencies or departments for action. We will keep you up to date with any progress as it is made. We will make sure our candidates for Mayor and for District 5 Councilmember are fully aware of your concerns, problems and possible solutions. We will publish the results on the www.RBernardo.com website, so others can be informed.

Get out the word to your neighbors and friends that this may be the ideal way to deal with some of those pesky neighbor-to-neighbor, owner-tenant, resident-community center problems, as well as By Laws and CC &Rs. Perhaps even a property management problem or two. What about those houses that need repairs? Those cars and trucks parked illegally? We are sure that people have problems that are similar in nature and can be discussed (and solved) with each other and a facilitator in small groups.

Mark your calendars -coffee and Coco’s homemade cookies and plenty of parking (the library is not open Wednesday mornings). If you have any questions, call 538-8148 and leave a message. We’ll get right back to you.
