Refunds to be offered for cancelled show

Frankie Laine has been resting his voice for the past weeks after a long run with the Palm Springs Follies and resultant inflamed vocal cords. Although he is improving nicely, his doctor has advised him not to sing for another few months. We in Rancho Bernardo wish him a quick recovery, but are devastated that he has to cancel his June 29 performance at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts. We were looking forward to hearing and meeting him.

If you purchased your tickets through an Emergency Preparedness volunteer, you will get your check back when you give him your tickets; he will call you. If you picked up your tickets at the Poway Box Office, just return them and they will credit your card or return your money. If the Box Office is holding your tickets, just call them at (858) 748-0505 and they will credit your card. If you have any questions, call Jim Harmon at 451-9550 or Ralph Stewart at 487-4962. We are so sorry to have to do this, and can only hope that Frankie makes a full recovery and will be singing again soon. Remember to tune into the Padres game on Saturday, June 17 at 1:05 p.m. to watch Frankie throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Helen Phillips will be the guest speaker at the Rancho Bernardo Community Council meeting on Thursday, June 22 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the library. For three years, Helen has been the Center Director of the RB Community Park, City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department. She will talk about the events and programs offered by the Center as well as their ongoing special projects such as the off-leash fenced Dog Park and lighting for the fields. Come to hear Helen and to ask any questions you may have. It is a great chance to be heard by the Council members.

Discounted tickets ($12.00) for the RB Chorale Friday, June 23 concert are available to seniors at the RB Senior Services Center. The theme this year is "Making Dreams Come True" and three scholarships to graduating high school students who plan to continue their musical education will be awarded. For more information call the Center at 858-487-2640. (Open Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
