Important RB programs in need of donations
Everyone at RB Neighborhood Watch and Emergency Preparedness is very disappointed that Frankie Laine could not perform at our fundraising Benefit tonight. We wish Frankie the very best, and we know he will be well enough soon to give many more performances. Since Frankie Laine cancelled his benefit performance recently, we are losing our fundraising capabilities for 2000. We will also lose some money due to our unfulfilled contracts with the Poway Theater. Neighborhood Watch/Emergency Preparedness is a community-wide program benefiting all of Rancho Bernardo, helping to keep our crime rate low, and preparing individual homeowners for any emergency. Our block captains, area coordinators, district coordinators and our Advisory Board members are truly the most dedicated of volunteers. Emergency Preparedness in RB is also very active. Emergency exercises are held several times a year with the expert help of the RB Emergency Radio Services (RBERS). Emergency Preparedness members stock the Community Centers with first aid supplies, CB radios, and recruit volunteers who are trained to use the equipment. We are hoping Rancho Bernardo residents will help us out. We have not sent a fundraising letter or written a newspaper appeal for many years. When we did, you gave generously, and we thank you. We are asking again for you to consider what Rancho Bernardo would be like without the safety and security that we provide, as well as the information to help fight crime and to improve our quality of life. Last year our Raffle was a success, thanks to you, and we raised funds for the year 1999 This year is different - our Frankie Laine fundraising benefit was cancelled. We ask for your help. All donations are accepted with our thanks; any amount that you can give will help us meet our 2000 goal of $10,000. This is an Emergency Preparedness and Neighborhood Watch combined goal, which includes all office supplies and equipment, emergency medical supplies, batteries, ID vests for emergency workers, event giveaways, and a fund for helping with the purchase of NHW signs for the RB neighborhoods. Please send a check, payable to the ‘San Diego Foundation, ’and mail to Neighborhood Watch/ EPP Fundraising, 17110 Bernardo Center Drive, San Diego, CA 92128. It is completely tax deductible. 99% percent of your donation will go directly to RB NHW/EPP programs (the Foundation charges 1%.) Courtesy RB NEWSJournalJune 29, 2000 |
