Performers and festivals: Lottsa things going on in RB

Don’t miss the talented and versatile pianist Bruno Leone and his all new show on Sunday, October 15 at 2 p.m. benefiting the Continuing Education Center in Rancho Bernardo. Pick up your $15 tickets at CEC, 16776 Bernardo Center Drive, Suite 110 (rear of building) from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, or purchase them at the theater.

Leone has performed throughout San Diego, Escondido and Poway, as well as in concert halls throughout the United States. He will play famous musical selections from the movies and will give the audience his insights about them and the famous actors and directors associated with them. A truly remarkable Sunday afternoon.

Tomorrow, Friday, October 13 at 10:30 a.m., the Press Club of Rancho Bernardo will present Julie Pendray, who is the new Inland North County News Editor for the Union-Tribune. The meeting will be in the 2nd floor Community Meeting Room of the San Diego National Bank, 16789 Bernardo Center Drive. Julie may be best remembered as a radio announcer for KOWN Radio in the early ‘80’s. She hosted a broadcast from the RB Inn, interviewing many of our residents. This was her first position in the U.S. after leaving her native New Zealand. Since that time she has had many interesting assignments with newspapers, TV, and in the political arena.

Press Club members are current or former journalists, authors, PR professionals and others in related fields of the industry. Prospective members are encouraged to attend this meeting. Guests are welcome. Entrance to the meeting room is through the lobby from the door facing Bernardo Center Drive. An elevator is available. Please park in the Plaza, not in the bank’s parking lot.

On Wednesday, October 18 from 1:30 to 3:00, Rancho Bernardo Senior Services will present a free seminar on "Emphysema and Breathing" given by Dr. Andrew Ries, Professor of Medicine, UCSD, who will discuss the latest in treatment as well as information regarding the National Emphysema Treatment Trial which is now taking place throughout the country. Please call 487-2640 for reservations.

A free hearing test will be given by Audiologist Judy Horning from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday, October 19 at Senior Services. An appointment is necessary.

The Bernardo Winery will host its 23rd annual Arts & Crafts Fair on Saturday and Sunday, October 28 and 29. Over 100 California artisans will be selling their crafts. Free admission, live entertainment for the whole family, wine tasting and a food fair. What a great day for you and your family!

By the way, the Seven Oaks Festival 2000 was a huge success on Saturday, October 7. The weather was perfect, the booths were extraordinary, the food was great, and the music was out of this world! Chairman Joyce Gage was pleased with the turnout and the fun that was had by all.
