 Art, economics and senior trips: just the ticket

RB ART ASSOCIATION’S ‘Fine Arts Exhibit 2001’ may be viewed through January 29 at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts. A non-juried show, featuring over 120 entries, it includes oils, acrylics, water colors, pastels, mixed media and soft sculptures. Best of Show, voted on by the visitors to the Grand Opening Saturday, January 6 was won by Rancho Bernardan Dianne Bodzin with her pastel, "Parted Lovers."

The Poway Center will be open for viewing 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Call Helen Sherry, Show Coordinator, at (858)487-8213 for more information. All works of art are for sale.

SDSU CONTINUING EDUCATION CENTER. Don Bauder is the senior columnist for the San Diego Union-Tribune and one of Southern California’s most respected economic analysts and commentators. He will be speaking on the "Impact of the World Economy on Mr. and Mrs. America" on Wednesday, February 7 at 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the CEC classroom at 16776 Bernardo Center Drive, Suite 110. After briefly defining globalization, he will speak on what it will mean to labor, consumers and top management, as well as its potential for affecting economic growth. COCOS CAFÉ & BAKERY’S Outstanding Volunteer awards for January 2001 go to Tony Longo, Seven Oaks Emergency Preparedness Media Director and Wayne Johnson, Seven Oaks Emergency Preparedness CB Communications Coordinator.

Coco’s donates two free lunches to two outstanding volunteers in Neighborhood Watch and Emergency Preparedness each month. Thanks go to Coco’s for their generosity and their pride in Rancho Bernardo’s hard working volunteers.

RB JOSLYN SENIOR CENTER. Be sure to reserve early for their trip to the famous Mission Inn in Riverside on Thursday, February 15 from 8:30 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m. The Mission Inn occupies an entire city block, complete with domes, arcades and towers. It first opened in 1903 and has hosted many famous guests including Albert Einstein, Teddy Roosevelt and William Howard Taft. Explore the Inn’s museum and partake of a delicious Inn buffet. NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH / EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS want to express their sympathy to the family on the recent death of Bill Handler. Bill worked closely with this group for a number of years at their two offices until he and his wife Jessie moved to a retirement home out of town.
