Community Service Center will have RB
Alive! booth
For the first time, the RB Community Service Center will be sharing a booth with Neighborhood Watch/Emergency Preparedness at RB Alive! The booth will be located in front of Bank of America next to the police booth. Be sure to visit - great information and handouts for the kids. The Community Service Center, which is located on the second floor of the Rancho Bernardo branch library, close to the center of town, benefits by being site partners with the library as well as three other very active and respected organizations - Neighborhood Watch, Emergency Preparedness and RSVP. The library, built in 1997, is still the busiest branch in the City of San Diego. Processing passport applications is the latest service offered, and it has been a resounding success said Center Specialist, Gaye Kuyper. The service is offered on Tuesdays from 2:30 to 4 p.m. and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon. (They are close to needing an appointment schedule!) Over 100 applications are processed each month. Customers appreciate the convenient location and appreciate the ‘personal touch’ service. Business increases daily at the Center. More and more residents utilize their services: paying water bills, obtaining and renewing business tax certificates, obtaining city job applications and pre-approved building permits for contractors as well as for private citizens. Customers can pay for parking citations (or file appeals), purchase parking meter debit cards, report pot holes, graffiti and other neighborhood concerns. During the federal tax season, citizens can come by and pick up the basic tax booklets and forms. The Center staff is very active and is asked frequently to give presentations to community groups regarding City resources and availability. The Center enjoys this partnership with the Rancho Bernardo community, which relies on the center. The Center's Web address is www.rbernardo.com/ The RB Press Club annual awards dinner at Stoneridge C.C. on Saturday, June 2 promises to be a sellout. Brian Christie of CNN will be the featured speaker and two high school seniors will be given a $1000 scholarship toward the tuition of the college of their choice. Social hour will begin at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. Call Ruth Beers, Professional Communications Agency, at 451-2179 for information, reservations or membership. The RB Press Club has membership openings: if you have been published, written professionally, or are currently employed in communications, you are eligible for membership.
