Don’t miss RB Alive! on Sunday, June 3

RB Alive! is an event you can really enjoy - all day.

Neighborhood Watch and Emergency Preparedness volunteers will be there to sell you Emergency mini-kits for your home, family members and for your vehicles. These kits contain enough food and water and a blanket for one person for 3 days. And they last for five years. Only $7.00 each, they are great for gifts

At the same booth you can sign up for "Vial of Life" and many other free benefits from Project Concern, including "Are you o.k.?" telephone calls. RB Community Services Center will also be there for information and free gifts.

The RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol) will be there with its fingerprinting detail, (children’s fingerprinting from about 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.); Officer Paul Lennon will be there (and his police car with the lights and sirens to wow the kids.) McGruff the crime-fighting dog will be there to meet and greet the crowd and hand out information for the kids. Who would miss it?

Hundreds of booths, free health screenings, health displays, food fairs, arts and crafts, entertainment and lots of activities and games for children. The new Honorary Mayor will be introduced (will it be Terri Scolari or Charlie Yang?) A booth will be manned by volunteers to talk to you about the Community Council, the Planning Board, and the Recreation Council. They will give you the information you need to elect your next local representatives.

RB Alive! is on Sunday, June 3rd from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bernardo Center drive will be closed between Bernardo Plaza Drive and Lomica Drive. This section will be filled with booths. We respect our merchants, and we’re pleased they have chosen Rancho Bernardo. And a little consideration for them is in order. For example, we have to give them the room (and parking) in order for them to do their ‘business as usual.’ RSVP will be helping with the handicapped parking in the Bank of America parking lot.

SPIRIT OF THE FOURTH: help to make the 2001 Independence Day celebration a success. The Spirit of the Fourth committee welcomes and is grateful for donations of any size. Donations of $100 or more will secure FREEDOM CLUB membership for you, which will include shaded VIP seating for the parade, the VIP reception, recognition in the official program (if donation received by June 1) and more. Make your check payable to "Spirit of the Fourth, Inc." Send to P.O. Box 270736, San Diego CA 92198. It is tax deductible.

BIG NEWS: www.rbernardo.com has a new homepage that is very exciting, easier to use and has much greater functionality . Check it out - and give us your opinion. We welcome and appreciate your comments.

COCO's June, 2001 awards for outstanding volunteers in Neighborhood Watch and Emergency Preparedness go to Margaret Cauthen and Marie Graver. We appreciate their generous help.
