GOD BLESS AMERICA WEEK from November 18 through November 24. Ralph Stewart, Emergency Preparedness coordinator in Seven Oaks, is rallying the entire country to count their blessings and give thanks every day of this week, Thanksgiving week. His campaign has resulted in Proclamations from Councilmember Brian Maienschein, Supervisor Pam Slater and Assemblywoman Charlene Zettel. Pam Slater's Proclamation will be presented on Wednesday, November 14 at 9 a.m. at the Board of Supervisors meeting at the County Building.* * * * * City Attorney Casey Gwinn and Ashley Walker Exec. Dir. Human Relation Commission will be coming to Rancho Bernardo Friday, November 30 to speak on Domestic Violence - how to recognize and prevent. More on this in future articles.* * * * * Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol (RSVP) in RB announces recent nametag 'Stars:' one star for each year of service. 8 stars, Helen Harte; 7 stars , Toni Edberg, Maury Eis, Ben Franchi, Marie Graver and Bob Showalter; 6 stars, Ruth and Stuart Morpeth; 4 stars; Bob Bertschy, Tom Loftis and Jim Slattery; 3 stars, Ralph Mulroy, Jean Richmond and Bob Serrano. A "Certificate of Appreciation' was awarded to Fred Shaw. Welcome to new member, Don Jacobs, who graduated from the last Academy on September 28. We are all saddened by the recent death of Bill Fathman.* * * * * The new RB crime stats for the month of October, 2001are published and divided into RB Districts. Pick up your copy at the Library 2nd floor, either at the Community Services office or at the Neighborhood Watch office.* * * * * Coco’s Café and Bakery in Rancho Bernardo congratulates Flo Logsdon and Jack Barrett and honors them with the Coco’s Award for November, 2001.Each month Coco’s donates two free lunches each to two outstanding volunteers in Neighborhood Watch and Emergency Preparedness. Thanks go to Coco’s for their generosity and their pride in Rancho Bernardo’s hard working volunteers. * * * * * Free flu shots at RB Senior Services on Monday, November 12, Tuesday, November 13 and Wednesday, November 14 from 9 am to 11:30 a.m. Call 487-2640 to make reservations. Approximately 600 shots will be given each day.* * * * * A CROP Hunger Walk is scheduled on Sunday, November 4 beginning at 1:00PM at the Hope United Methodist Church in Rancho Bernardo. CROP is an acronym for Communities Reaching Out to People. The Fifth District Councilman Brian Maienschein will speak during the registration and prewalk activities at 1 PM.
