Personal survival, terrorism seminars planned by
CEC
It has become evident that the struggle against terrorism and terrorists will not be simple, nor will it be immediate. It will take a long time. Attacks come from all over the world, from people who lay claim to martyrdom. One cannot turn back the clock, yet there are always the questions of what we might have done to avert attacks, how to deal with more terrorist attacks and how to reconcile grievances that underlie terrorism, real or perceived. Author Otto Newman, Ph.D. London School of Economics, London University, will speak on "Reflections on Terror." The sessions will be on two Wednesdays - May 22 and 29 at 10 am to noon at the CEC office. Members, $16, nonmembers $20. Call the office at 487-0464 for reservations and more information. Instructor Bill Miller, MBA, Black Belt Emeritus and Marines Close Combat Trainer will be at CEC to talk about "How to spot the bad guys and what to do to SURVIVE." CEC is offering this presentation as a public service. Even though there is no charge, you must register with them at 487-0464. It will be held on Monday, May 20 from 1:15 to 3:15. Miller says that most terrorists and thugs will project the same behavioral character traits. During this session you will learn ways to identify these multiple traits and mannerisms. Some are obvious and some deceptive and more sophisticated. Awareness is critical. Miller will demonstrate and elaborate on self-defense fighting moves for the average citizen and show how everyday items that you carry can be converted to very effective weapons. The CEC feels that these two courses will be very popular and urges you to register soon.
