Trio to join Hall of Fame on March 22

Richard Belzer, Larry McIntyre and Joyce Tavrow are the three newest members of the Rancho Bernardo Hall of Fame. They will be honored at the RBCF’s luncheon on March 22 at 11:30 at the Bernardo Heights Country Club. Three Youth Hall of Famers will be honored as well.

The criteria for eligibility for this distinct honor are for volunteer service with organizations that specifically and primarily benefit Rancho Bernardo as follows:

    • A minimum of five years residence in Rancho Bernardo at time of nomination.
    • A minimum of six years voluntary community service in a position of leadership in a Rancho Bernardo organization or two or more years of leadership in each of two or more Rancho Bernardo organizations.
    • Nominee shall have demonstrated OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP in positions that are demanding and not merely perfunctory in a RB organization.
    • The nominee shall be or shall have been chairperson, president or an officer of a RB organization or chairperson of a committee that makes a SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTION to Rancho Bernardo.
    • The length of time served SHALL NOT, in itself, qualify one for nomination.
    • Services shall have been performed in organizations that serve all of the community, or whose actions can have a significant impact on the community; as well as leadership in organizations that foster cultural, educational, civic and governmental (volunteer only) services.
    • Participation in religious and partisan political organizations SHALL NOT be considered valid areas of service.

Belzer, McIntyre and Tavrow have met these criteria well. Belzer and Tavrow were chairs of the RB Planning Board and have participated in many more volunteer efforts; McIntyre was founder and president of the Historical Society, president and vice president of the Spirit of the Fourth and a founding member of the RB Chamber of Commerce.

The luncheon on March 22 will be open to the public. Please reserve early to support these proactive volunteers and the RB Hall of Fame. Call Attorney Bruce Cornblum’s office for reservations at 485-8770; tickets are $20.00 each. Arrangements can be made for tables of 8. Please make checks out to RB Hall of Fame.
