RB Alive! is June 1
We’re all planning to go. Who would miss it? A full day’s entertainment! Hundreds of booths, free health screenings, health displays, food fairs, arts and crafts shows, business booths, entertainment, Kiddieland with new games and rides, "Strut your Mutt," with Dr. Dog and doggy prizes. Don’t miss going to the "Friends of the RB Dog Park" on Lomica Drive. On sale are retractable leashes for small and medium-small dogs at a huge discount, and, of course, booster buttons. Try your luck at the new "Diamond Dig." You just can’t miss this party. As Gary Powers, president and CEO of the RB Chamber of Commerce says, "It’s a first-class event for the community. It has something for everyone." We’re just hoping it’s not the hottest day of the year! What’s the very best thing about RB Alive! Expo? How about this: it’s in Rancho Bernardo, right here where we live, on our main street, featuring local food, entertainment, and health expertise, all sponsored by Pomerado Hospital and other RB organizations. What’s more, it’s right next to the middle of our shopping center, the Plaza, where our merchants and retailers are located, not in some distant mall. We respect our merchants, and we’re pleased they have chosen Rancho Bernardo. But a little consideration for them is in order. For example, we have got to give them the room (and parking) in order for them to do their business as usual. The RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol) booth will again do children’s fingerprinting from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. They will be located in front of Bank of America, next to the police car. They will also be controlling the handicapped parking in the B of A parking lot. Neighborhood Watch and Emergency Preparedness will be right next to the RSVP booth. Be sure to stop by to pick up information on security and safety, sign up for "Project Care," Vials of Life and RU O.K. The Community Services Center will be giving out information regarding its many services, as well as some giveaways. And in the next booth…get to know your RB civic leaders on the Planning Board, Community Council and Recreation Committee. See what they do and see how you can become a member. RB Alive! Expo is on Sunday, June 1. Bernardo Center drive will be closed between Bernardo Plaza Drive and Lomica Drive and on Lomica Drive to Acena. This section will be filled with booths. * * * * * Next Thursday, May 22 at 7 p.m., the RB Community Council will present a speaker from San Diego Homeland Security. Don’t miss this! Find out what’s going on and how you can help yourself and others. It’s being held in the Community Room at the RB Library, 2nd floor. Bring a friend. Courtesy RB NEWS JournalMay 15, 2003 |
