Party recognizes outstanding volunteers
Recently, Neighborhood Watch and Emergency held their Annual Recognition
Party at Eastview Community Center, Eight volunteers were treated to a potluck
dinner, doorprizes and certificates from the RB Community Council. Their names
will be engraved on the special Neighborhood Watch / Emergency Preparedness
Distinguished Service Awards plaque, Officer Paul Lennon was on hand to offer
his congratulations and answer timely questions for the SDPD. The Board of
Advisors and outstanding volunteers from other years were also on hand.
Congratulations and the community’s thanks go to:
GEORGE COOKE. George is being recognized this year for his steady support of
the NHW program during his 4 year tenure as the High Country West association
president and as a Block Captain.
JOE DIRKS. He is the transportation coordinator in EPP at 7 Oaks, helping other
districts as well. He is treasurer of the RB Community Council, sits on the
Public Safety Committee and the RB Planning Board.
EVELYN DOBSON. She is very active as assistant Area Coordinator in High
Country West, organizing the block captains and establishing procedures for
email contact and leading yearly training classes and recruitment of 27 new
captains.
TIM DODGE Just last April Tim became the District Coordinator
position for Westwood. In a short time he had identified all of the Areas
and Blocks and their vacancies, recruited 2 new Area Coordinators and 3 Block
captains. He has now reinstated quarterly NHW meetings and developed an
effective means for tracking crime statistics and trends.
ANNA MARZOUK. When Anna moved to Bernardo Heights, a community
of 29 separate communities, she immediately volunteered to be the new District
Coordinator. She has been very active in NHW and EPP by increasing residents’
awareness of these programs. This has included personal recruitment
efforts, district-wide meetings, sending out Newsletters, and soliciting support
and participation from the Association Presidents.
DENNIS ROE. Denny has volunteered many hours to the Westwood NHW
program. In addition to supporting all of Tim Dodge's efforts, he has made
a special effort to help distribute crime statistics and trends to his
surrounding blocks and identifying the NHW Street Sign status throughout the
whole community.
WALLY THOMPSON Wally has been a key contributor to RB
Emergency Radio Services for a number of years and coordinates the communication
center at the Casa which includes quarterly drills; arranges the monthly
breakfast/business meetings and internal RBERS communication bulletins. He
has acted as temporary Co-Leader until the new Leader was found.
PAT WHITE In addition to being the Area Coordinator for Los Rios,
and doing an extraordinary job, Pat White has headed up the effort to develop an
exciting new program to get high school students involved in Neighborhood Watch
and Emergency Preparedness, exploring grants for funding and effective ways to
help students help our community, and also earn necessary community service
hours for college applications.
FRITZ WOELLER Fritz Coordinates all CB radio activities for 7 Oaks,
including weekly communication checks, testing of base equipment, including
antennas and radios and publishing operating guidelines and training new
operators.
The party could not have been complete without the help and sponsorship of
