RB Alive! will offer plenty of fun all day

Neighborhood Watch and Emergency Preparedness volunteers will be there to sell you some great safety products for your home, for gifts for friends and family and for your vehicles. They will be selling Lightsticks in 3 colors, which turn on with just a snap and last for 8-12 hours. Handy for emergencies, power failures and car trouble and only $2.00 each.

They also will be selling removable and reusable Quake Hold museum putty, which secures valuable treasures from earthquakes, kids, pets and overzealous dusting. Only $4.00 for enough to hold over 45 items.

Neighborhood Watch will be handing out new free doorknob hangers with important telephone numbers. Get one to hang close to your telephone(s).

The RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol) will be there with its fingerprinting detail, children’s fingerprinting -ages 2 to 14- from about 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

A SDPD Officer will be there (and a police car with the lights and sirens to wow the kids.) The McGruff crime-fighting team will be there to meet and greet the crowd and hand out information for the kids. Who would miss it?

Come visit hundreds of booths, free health screenings, health displays, food fairs, arts and crafts, entertainment and lots of activities, "Strut your Mutt" and Kiddieland for children. The new Honorary Mayor will be introduced (will it be Frank Goldsmith or Maureen Anderson?)

A booth will be manned by volunteers to talk to you about the Community Council, the Planning Board, and the Recreation Council. They will give you the information you need to elect your next local representatives.

And don’t forget the Friends of the RB Dog Park booth. The Friends will be selling retractable doggie leashes at a discount – to benefit the new park – groundbreaking is scheduled this Fall.

RB Alive! is on Sunday, June 6th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bernardo Center drive will be closed between Bernardo Plaza Drive and Lomica Drive. This section will be filled with booths. We respect our merchants, and we’re pleased they have chosen Rancho Bernardo. And a little consideration for them is in order. For example, we have to give them the room (and parking) in order for them to do their ‘business as usual.’

RSVP will be helping with the handicapped parking in the Bank of America parking lot. No vendors will be allowed there.
