Ever wonder what’s going on in RB? Check out
these meetings
What is going to be built on the corner of RB Road and Pomerado? How come the Shell stations are painted bright yellow? What about our traffic problems? What about the unsightly "cars-for-sale?" Is there talk of more cell towers in RB? Here’s one good way to find out. The Community Planning Board meets once a month to vote on the various issues which have come before it. But they also have a number of very important committees that also meet each month prior to the main meeting. These are: Regional Issues, chair Vicki Touchstone; Development Review, chair John Woods; and Traffic Committee, chair Irving Sherman. The next full Planning Board meeting is on Thursday, June 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room, 2nd floor library. The public is urged to attend. Don’t miss this chance to have your voice heard. The Regional Issues committee meets the first Tuesday of the month at
the RB Swim & Tennis Club at 7:30 p.m. The major topics addressed at
the June 1st meeting included the California High Speed Train
proposal and a proposed amendment to the Community Plan that if approved
would increase the total unit count in Rancho Bernardo by at least 20
units. The Regional Issues Committee reviewed the potential impacts that could occur to the community. Major issues include increased noise and significant visual quality impacts related to an elevated rail line crossing through the community along I-15. The committee will be asking the full board to approve a letter in
response to the EIR/EIS that outlines the various concerns raised by the
Committee members. The Development Review Committee also meets on the first Tuesday of each month, at 3:30 p.m. in the Seminar Room, 2nd floor of the library. On June 1st, the committee approved a cell phone tower proposed for the parking lot at the Country Club of RB. The tower would be concealed in a group of palm trees and the equipment outbuilding would be hidden. This will be taken to the full Board on June 17. A proposed house development in the Trails was put on hold, to be brought up for additional discussion. The Traffic Committee meets on the 4th Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the San Diego National Bank, 2nd floor conference room; their next meeting is on June 28th. They will be discussing "traffic calming" issues in the Trails and Eastview and are looking for input from residents from these communities. The Rancho Bernardo Community Planning Board is chartered by the City of San Diego to advise the Planning Commission, the City Council and other city departments concerning land use issues. Its principal purpose is to protect the official Rancho Bernardo Community Plan, thereby preserving property values and the RB lifestyle. The Planning Board provides a forum to discuss land use issues, including aspects pertaining to the compliance of neighborhood codes. Courtesy RB NEWSJournal |
