AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN
AAUW , founded in 1881, is the oldest, largest and most diverse national organization for college graduates - over 150,000 members in 50 states.The California AAUW, founded in San Francisco in 1886, today has more than 24,000 members in over 170 branches. The Rancho Bernardo Branch was organized in 1969. Membership offers opportunities to support local and national scholarships, to hear stimulating speakers, to join special interest groups and to interact with other women with inquiring minds. Membership is open to any graduate with a degree from an accredited two-year college or higher. We meet the 3rd Tuesday of each month, October through June, at the Rancho Bernardo Swim and Tennis Club. A luncheon meeting is held the 3rd Tuesday in September at a local country club. Our newsletter, The Rancho Bernardo Spokeswoman, is published four times a year. The Poway-Penasquitos Branch has many Rancho Bernardo Members. The AAUW is supporting 2 other separate not-for-profit organizations: AAUW Educational Foundation and the AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund.
